Learn how to properly use an Automated External Defibrillator

Emergency Situation

A person has collapsed and is unresponsive. You've called 911 and retrieved an AED. Now you need to prepare the person and use the AED correctly.

Before using an AED:

  • Remove clothing, cut if necessary
  • Wipe off water/sweat
  • Shave heavy chest hair if pads won't stick
  • Remove nitro patches, avoid piercings/implants
  • Move to firm surface if possible
